There were many givebacks even in the TA that was shared with members in 2018. The simplest to explain is that rank and file members lost the right to grieve over several important problems, including lack of appropriate textbooks and supplies. So no one who cared about the members' control over their working conditions should have voted on the UFT Executive Board in favor of that contract
