The UFT leadership have sold themselves to the highest bidders: city, state and federal government and insurance companies. My question is how much did they pocket to mislead not only current members but retirees as well?
I sincerely doubt anyone in UFT leadership is actually pocketing anything even remotely resembling a bribe. They don't need to. They make very good salaries and have excellent job security (Unity has never lost a presidential election). And since they'll continue to collect those salaries and keep their positions of power year after year, whether they get us good contracts/healthcare or not, they have little incentive to put in the work to get teachers who are actually in the classroom what we deserve.
Little incentive? The leadership of the UFT and city government, state and federal government have been bought and paid for by big insurance companies. This medical advantage plan isn’t just going on in one city….it’s going on in every city!!
There are arguments that Unity is controlled by the corporate wing of the DNC, who do receive funding from the people standing to profit from MAP. To that end, there's an argument. But as much as I disagree with them, I just don't think UFT leaders take bribes.
Do not let UFT leadership bully the rank and file over any contract!!!! You have a right to read the contract before voting. Make sure you check out your health insurance because Mulgrew and crew have been negotiating that to. Remember money is not everything!!!!!
