If UFT leadership is trying to get teachers more time, I question the strategy of putting the little time we do have at risk. Repost from the NAC blog at https://newaction.org
The UFT leadership and the City have said that moving the City retirees into Medicare Advantage will save the City 600 million dollars. Based on the new lawsuit by the New York Organization of Public Service Retirees we were able to see the testimony of the City’s Independent Budget Office: the 600 million dollars will not go to the City budget, it will go to the Health Insurance Stabilization Fund controlled by the UFT and DC 37. The 600 million in “savings” will come out of the in-service plans. UFT members, you have to follow the money. UFT members you should not agree to a contract until you see the health care plan!

Couldn't agree more.
