Part of their strike fever is probably a result of union leadership striking a deal with auto makers and politicians to encourage electric and phase outage gas and diesel powered vehicles. A WSJ pointed out that gas vehicle use ~1900 moving parts that must be manufactured for new and replacement parts, while electric vehicles only have ~ 20 moving parts with a huge battery. Do the math --all those workers needed to manufacture parts to repair and maintain gas and diesel power cars are signing their own unemployment future if the agree to the UAW leader's vision.
