ok i am an editor at an online publication and these are confusing editing choices! you used a layered block quotes to denote what is *not* a quote and normal text to denote what *is*, meaning you’re doing the opposite of usual web publication practice. I suggest fixing it!

This Peter Goodman blog post is all over the place (again) and a sloppy mess (again). There is nothing Trumpian about a labor union organizing for strike-readiness as a tactic in fighting for racial, economic and social justice. In fact, that is the exact opposite of Trumpian. AFT, the national teachers union of which UFT is a member, officially resolved last month (July 2024) to participate in the UAW-proposed nationwide General Strike of all unionized workers in May 2028. Time to start gearing up!

While I agree that a strike can be counterproductive, not being prepared for one takes away the only leverage that we have.

We haven't had a contact without significant givebacks in over a decade. Mulgrew seems to take the City's concerns over his constituency's.

I used to be bothered by Goodman’s Unity puff pieces, but now I must say that watching them become more and more unhinged and pleading as Unity loses again and again is pretty satisfying.

Why should we try to reach consensus with Unity party hacks? They have excluded every voice in the UFT but theirs for decades.

Another piece for an audience of one. If Mulgrew announced tomorrow we need a strike readiness plan, Peter would write the exact opposite piece the next day. Mulgrew’s fragility and need to surround himself with toadies and cheerleaders has damaged this union.
