But it could be repealed. The UFT is supporting the City’s lawsuit to take away Medicare and Medicare supplement at no cost to UFT retirees which would trigger the Retiree Health Insurance Moratorium Law if the City wins. I would hope that NYSUT and the UFT are not lobbying to repeal the law but they would not tell their members if they were.

One law you did not mention is the Retiree Health Moratorium Law which requires that if a school district reduces retiree health insurance benefits or contributions it must diminish the corresponding benefits or contributions for school district employees.

That law was a count in the lawsuit by the NYC Organization of Retirees against the City of New York.

I would think that NYSUT and the UFT will support the continuation of that law, do they?
