Ben is the most qualified candidate for trustee on the NYC Teacher Retirement System pension board. Help him get on the ballot. Vote for him on Wed, May 8, 2024.
The UFT Delegate Assembly, union members elected in their schools, overwhelmingly endorsed Christina McGrath, a teacher who worked in the union pension department for 20 years..
Trustees do not decide which stocks to buy, technical decisions are made by TRS and Comptroller staff with Trustee oversight,’. The role of the union-elected Trustees is to create a member- friendlyTRS, example, the new website and assure that every member has ready access to information as well as informed advice from an expert. Selecting someone with NO experience is foolish and dangerous, especially someone wedded to a caucus advocating “preparing to strike,”
Vote for Christina, 20 years of experience makes her exceptionally qualified
Peter, that DA was a farce - and you're leaving out the divided amendment vote to co-endorse Ben, with thumbs on the scale put forth by Unity-elected officers dominating the discussion and frankly misleading members. If trustees have oversight over pension-related decisions, having someone with actual large-scale investment experience is critical. And Ben, by the way, also has experience making complicated information about pensions available to members - see the NAC presentation on Tier 6, which frankly is much more thorough than the official UFT-approved one, a glorified COPE ad. Christina may have 20 years of experience, but what is the specificity of that experience? With Ben, the experience is quantitatively minded work with billions of dollars worth of investments. Yes, he can put together a powerpoint too. And Peter, I already debunked your red-baiting of NAC on the question of striking - you are leaving out a considerable amount of information, and since I have to imagine you've read my rebuttal to your piece on this last month, I assume you are making this point now in bad faith.
