Urgent Call To Action: 'Our Voice, Our Union' UFT Member Survey For A Stronger Future
A grassroots movement to lift up and hear UFT member concerns about our working conditions, pay & benefits, the need for stronger union advocacy and a better contract is growing rapidly!
Dear UFT Members,
We want to hear from you. Yes, you!
The UFT General Election (where we vote for UFT President, UFT Secretary, UFT Vice Presidents, etc.) is happening this school year.
Following the historic wins of Retiree Advocate and Fix Para Pay in last June’s UFT Chapter Elections, an informal group of UFT organizers and members started talking about our concerns regarding the current stewardship of our Union. We have varying levels of work experience within the DOE/NYCPS, and come from various groups, backgrounds and viewpoints.
Over the years it has become increasingly apparent to all of us that some things, arguably a lot of things, aren't working as well as they should in our profession or in our Union. We have witnessed very real threats to our healthcare (both in-service and retiree), threats to our pay and benefits, and threats to our working conditions.
Our group has begun organizing for the UFT General Election that will be happening later this school year, because we cannot afford to sit on the sidelines and wait for someone to come save us. We know that the real strength of our Union comes from the everyday workers — the ones who show up, put in the work, and keep our schools running. We all agree that getting the pulse of the rank and file is the first step to improving working conditions and quality of life for ALL members of the UFT.
To that end, we worked together to create a UFT member survey that represents the most comprehensive attempt to date at getting authentic feedback from the folks who are on the front lines every day. That’s you!
We want a UFT that is truly democratic and more representative of all UFT members, much more responsive and accountable to everyday UFT members, and much stronger when standing up to those who would do us harm.
We need your input on how to make that happen. Please scroll down, click the link below, and complete the UFT member survey.
There are six sections that will take approximately five minutes in total, so please respond to the questions and help us get the clearest picture possible of what UFT members want and need from their employer and their Union as we approach citywide UFT leadership elections this school year.
We want real change, we want you to work with us to make that change happen, and we want your voice to be heard. Please get involved, complete the survey, and spread the word to a few UFT friends and colleagues.
Every action you take makes a big difference, and we cannot say this enough: We need you. Yes, YOU!

Please note this survey is for both in-service and retiree UFT members. We value everyone's feedback, and we want everyone involved!
This is for in service members. As a retiree, I should not have received this questionnaire.
