UFT Welfare Fund Needs Survey: Help Improve Our Dental Benefits
Concerned UFT members seek your input in campaign to improve our Welfare Fund Dental Benefits
Have you had trouble finding a dentist who will accept UFT Welfare Fund reimbursement rates?
Have you had to pay large amounts out of pocket for dental work that wasn’t covered?
Did you know that the Welfare Fund has an almost one billion dollar surplus? And has had been taking in almost $100 million more than it spends every year for the last five years?
A group concerned UFT members put together this survey to share your input on the current state of our dental benefits and how they could be improved.
Please share your thoughts by taking a minute to fill out the survey, and then share this with your colleagues and fellow UFT members.
Your feedback will be help improve the Welfare Fund!
I assume this is not for retirees since one question required a code for what district your school is in.
The UFT Welfare Fund needs a forensic investigation. One has only to look at the CSA Welfare Fund benefits offered to both actives and retirees and compare with the UFT offerings. The UFT forces retirees to pay dues to access both SHIP and the Catastrophic Coverage whereas CSA offers a compilation of benefits far better than SHIP, at zero cost to actives and retirees alike, this includes a catastrophic plan with a $1000 deductible. NYSUT advised that it is at the locals’ discretion to require retirees to pay dues for access to the NYSUT programs. NYSIUT would not reveal which locals require dues of their retirees and which do not. Highly possible that the UFT local 2 is the only one with the dues payment requirement. It’s time for this investigation! Please advise, we look forward to participating in this endeavor.
