Leaders, advocates, and community stakeholders sound off and make calls for action to fully fund our public schools.
Don’t miss a special Talk Out of School broadcast tonight, Sunday 1/28 at 7:00PM, on WBAI 99.5 FM. You can also catch the livestream on wbai.org.
We will discuss Governor Kathy Hochul’s newly proposed school budget cuts to Foundation Aid -- over $400 million in cuts. Almost half of the state school districts will receive less Foundation Aid.
Long Island and Hudson Valley school districts are being hit hard, especially, by these proposed budget cuts. Long Beach school district is looking at $4.3 million in cuts. Port Washington schools to see cuts totaling $4.9 million. Even NYC is seeing underfunding to Foundation Aid!
Leaders, advocates, and community stakeholders affected by this decision speak out on tonight’s show. Among them are: Alliance for Quality Education, Melinda Person, the president of NYSUT, parent leaders from Long Beach school district and others.
We will share the podcast on The Wire, shortly after tonight’s broadcast.
